Alcohol maker Liviko concludes agreement with Japanese wholesaler

The Tallinn-based alcoholic beverages producer AS Liviko has concluded a sales and sole representation agreement concerning its Viru Valge vodkas and Viru Valge Cooler vodka drinks with the biggest wholesale enterprise in Japan, Nihon Shurui Hanbai Co. The deal enabled Liviko to close its Japanese subsidiary in the interests of economic efficiency.

Japan’s importance in the exports of Liviko is growing, last year Liviko’s export to Japan increased 28% year-on-year, the company said in its announcement.

From now on Liviko’s cooperation with Japan will be conducted through the parent company in Tallinn and the Tokyo headquarters of Nihon Shurui Hanbai Co.

Liviko started the export of Viru Valge Coolers and Viru Valge vodkas to Japan in 2009, changing the ingredients of the products to conform to Japanese laws and health protection requirements for that purpose. The company had been doing the groundwork for starting export to Japan since 2006. Liviko currently exports eight products to that country.
